Terms of Service

1. The Service

PromptPaste is a Windows desktop application that converts speech to text locally on your device and pastes the result into other applications. The website provides account management, billing, and documentation for the desktop app. Speech processing runs on your machine; the Service is local-first by design, as described in the Privacy Policy.

2. Your Account

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date.
• You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account and for keeping your credentials secure.
• You must be legally able to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction.
• One account per person. Do not share account credentials.

3. Free Trial, Subscription, and Billing

• New accounts receive a 7-day free trial of paid features. No payment is required to start the trial.
• After the trial ends, continued use of paid features requires an active monthly subscription.
• Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled.
• You can cancel at any time from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Prices, taxes, and payment processing are handled by our payment provider (Stripe). Applicable taxes may be added at checkout.

4. Refunds

Refund eligibility and process are described on our Refunds page. Requests outside the stated policy are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service in violation of applicable law or the rights of others.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source of the Service, except to the extent permitted by law.
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service without written permission.
• Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security, licensing, or entitlement features.
• Use the Service to generate, transmit, or store content that is illegal, harmful, or infringing.

6. Third-Party Services

PromptPaste pastes text into other applications you choose (for example, Claude Code, Codex CLI, or any editor). Those destinations are operated by third parties and governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the behavior, availability, pricing, or content of third-party services, and the Service provides no warranty over them.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all software, designs, text, logos, and trademarks, is owned by PromptPaste or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal or internal business use. No other rights are granted.

8. Your Content

Because speech processing happens locally on your device, PromptPaste does not receive or store your dictation content. Any text you produce or paste using the Service remains yours. See the Privacy Policy for details on what is and is not collected.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that transcription output will be accurate for any particular use case.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PromptPaste and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you materially breach these Terms, fail to pay applicable fees, or use the Service in a way that poses a security or legal risk. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When changes are material, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the changes.
